Saffir's prestigious Marina Hotel in Kuwait opts for Ortronics connectivity

The implementation ran in parallel with the construction of the building and provided the hotel with advanced services such as high-speed Internet connectivity, wireless access and IP telephony. The IT network infrastructure also supports its hotel management systems (HMS), in-room facilities like Interactive TV systems and Internet service.

BMB installed a total of seven-42U cabinets in different locations to house the active networking equipment. These are linked to a Central Main cabinet using a fibre optic backbone. The horizontal cabling spreads across 2400 data points and is based on the Ortronics Clarity6™ copper solution. The OM3 multimode fibre constituting the backbone offers bandwidth suitable for 10 GB/s applications. A total of 150,000 meters of copper horizontal distribution and 19200 fibre meters have been deployed in the system.

"The main challenge for us and Online Distribution was to complete an end to end structured cabling system on-site within tight time schedules while maintaining high quality installation and performance," said Ausaf Usmani, Divisional Manager of BMB. "We were awarded the project after a series of presentations followed by inspections of installed reference sites by the Consulting engineers to evaluate the proposed product and the installation practices of the installers."
