"purchek™ from Gatekeeper combines a series of digital transmitters with patented, self-locking GS1 technology platform to prevent shoplifters from pushing carts out of the store, explains Mr. Balvinder S Sindhu, General Manager of Arabian Gulf Agencies. "This unique in-store anti-theft solution with an integrated locking wheel thus provides a cutting edge for the retailers in the battle against 'pushout' theft," he adds.

"The tremendous market potential arising out of the burgeoning supermarkets and hyper markets in the U.A.E. has prompted Gatekeeper Systems to showcase this unique product in the 2005 Retail Middle East Exhibition," says Mr. Stéphane Dedieu, General Manager, Gatekeeper Systems who has come to Sharjah/Dubai to specifically attend this exhibition.

Also participating in the exhibition is Caddie - a leading global manufacturer of shopping carts and trolleys and AGA's longstanding associate in the U.A.E. - displaying its latest range of trolleys, which includes the ergonomically-designed 'Cadergo' and the 'Kid Caddie'.

Caddie's quality consciousness and attention to detail is evident from the ergonomically-designed 'Cadergo' trolley that is on display at the exhibition. Electro-conducive plastic stripping in the handle to reduce static electricity discharges, a patented special paint that prevents corrosion and can retain its original colour even after years in direct sunlight, abrasive-resistant material are some of the niche features of this Cadergo trolley whose height and the pushing angle has been specifically designed to suit women.

Caddie's local representative AGA's clientele include Abu Dhabi Cooperative Society, Sharjah Cooperative Society and Union Cooperative Society besides which they have also supplied to well-known shopping malls across the region. Caddie trolleys and shopping carts are prominently visible at the Lulu Centres and Carrefour hyper markets across the region, the recent entrant Geant and also the recently inaugurated Ibn Battuta Mall.

"Already having a distinct presence in retail distribution and supermarkets across the Gulf region, Caddie is geared to make greater inroads into the hospitality industry, hotels/ restaurants, airports, hospitals/clinics, and retirement homes," says Mr. Todd Brown, International Area Manager, Caddie who is here to specifically attend this exhibition.

"Retail Middle East, 2005 - one of the key events meant for the various retail industry participants -has provided a perfect platform for Caddie to expand its horizons with the help of AGA, its regional representative," opined Mr. Brown while commenting about the exhibition.
