3Com raises the bar on security for Saudi Arabia

  • Saudi Arabia: Wednesday, April 20 - 2005 at 13:21
  • PRESS RELEASE

3Com, the leading provider of networking technology, has reported strong interest in its expanded range of security solutions at the Saudi IT Security Forum, held in the Kingdom this week.

The company presented insight into its award-winning intrusion prevention systems (IPS), developed through its acquisition of TippingPoint Technologies earlier this year. Interest in IPS technology is growing at a rapid rate in the Kingdom, as companies look for advanced measures to prevent their networks being compromised and their data being accessed by unauthorized people.

IPS is becoming particularly important as more companies combine their voice and data networks using IP technology, which - if unprotected - creates the potential for hackers to access phone conversations and voice-mail messages, as well as more traditional data centers.

In addition to discussing advances in the IPS arena, security experts from 3Com sat with a number of high-level representatives from leading Saudi organizations, to discuss how an integrated network security strategy can play a key role in protecting an enterprise.

"3Com's network security philosophy runs from the network edge to the core, and we've always been careful to build privacy and protection considerations into all our products and services. The addition of IPS technology gives us the most advanced security portfolio of any networking technology vendor, and we're keen to highlight the benefits of that to our customers in Saudi Arabia," said Mohammad Al Absi, Country Manager, 3Com Saudi Arabia.

Part of 3Com Middle East's mission for this year's event is to demonstrate the strength of its comprehensive networking solutions to organizations in the Kingdom.

"The addition of IPS technology to our product portfolio means that we now offer an unmatched range of secure network technology, which ensures that our customers in Saudi Arabia have the peace of mind of knowing that their networks are protected and secure," added Al Absi.

The Saudi IT Security Forum ran from April 17-18, and took place under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince General Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Deputy Commander of the National Guard for Military Affairs. More than twenty experts from Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of CIT, SAMA, CIT Commission, STC, Saudi Airlines, and Saudi ARAMCO participated.
