Intel to host key technology event in Middle East for first time

Intel has announced that the company will be hosting its key technology event, Intel Developer Forum (IDF), in the Middle East for the first time.
"Following hard on the heels of our CEO Craig Barrett's visit to the region in March, this announcement underscores Intel's recognition of the existing and potential importance of the Middle East, Turkey, Africa region in the company's overall plans," said Aysegul Ildeniz, Intel's Regional Director "We have been working with developers in this region for many years now and it is clear that there is an abundance of talent in this area within the region. We believe that the combination of local talent together with the insight provided by senior Intel executives from around the world who will be traveling to IDF Cairo will provide a considerable boost to the regional IT business."
The keynote address at IDF Cairo will be provided by Frank Spindler, Vice President Intel's Sales and Marketing Group and Director of Industry Technology Programs who will provide a strategic overview of the technical direction that Intel is taking at the moment and will speak about some of the latest developments to emerge from Intel's Research and Development department.
Chris Thomas, Chief Strategist, Director of Strategic Initiatives Solutions Market Development Group will provide insight into the trends and emerging issues that are shaping the IT industry in the region.
Shekhar Borkar, Intel Fellow, Corporate Technology Group Director, Circuit Research will provide a glimpse into Intel's latest research and development efforts driving future processor and platform architecture innovations, and how these innovations could address existing user needs and enable new possibilities for tomorrow
The event will then divide into several tracks - the Intel Research and Development track, the Cross Architecture Software Development track, the Digital Enterprise Platform and Solutions track, Digital Home, Platform Ingredients, Mobile Platform Innovations and Communications technologies tracks. There will be more than 200 hours of lectures, sessions and labs covering such areas as Wi-Fi and other wireless innovations, Hyper-Threading, PCI Express, InfiniBand, Gigabit Ethernet, Digital Home, security advances and mobile and modular platforms.
IDF will take place at the Conrad Hotel, Cairo on May 10th.
