More than 200 of the region's four and five star hotels will compete for such prestigious accolades as the Middle East Hotel of the Year and the New Hotel of the Year. According to the awards sponsors DEPA, the Dubai-headquartered interior contracting company specialising in luxury hotels, this is the highest number of entries yet.
The awards are designed to recognize and reward outstanding service, performance and creativity by hotels and hospitality professionals across the Middle East.
Competition from among the region's world-renown, luxury developments is expected to be fierce says DEPA Chief Executive Officer, Mohanned Sweid. "We have been working with most of the region's hotels for the past 30 years and we know that each one has a resolute commitment to excellence in all aspects. It will be very interesting to see how the judges will rate one against another."
Chairman of the international judging panel, Stephen Head, Managing Partner, Conseil International Ltd, UK says: "The Middle East is now recognised as a world leader in hotel and resort innovation and development with each new project seeming to blazing a trail in architecture, interior design and levels of service, so the judging process will be extremely challenging."
Last year the Middle East received more than 33 million tourists and arrivals increased by 20 percent according to the World Tourism Organisation.
"These figures are testament to the superb quality of the region's hotels, hospitality facilities and services and the DEPA awards are a perfect showcase for these achievements," added Head.
Winners will be announced during a glittering ceremony at Dubai's Madinat Jumeirah during World Travel Market in May.
