This phone is a listening delight for the music enthusiasts in the Middle East. The company also launched a tri-band GSM phone, the SGH-X640. With the launch of these innovative phones, Samsung further aims to consolidate and grow its regional mobile phone market share to 25 per cent in 2005.

Evolving from last year`s hugely successful Samsung E700, the new Samsung E720 is a new slimline design that comes complete with external buttons to guarantee easy MP3 control. Packed into this sleek clamshell package is a megapixel camera, video recording (MPEG4) and messaging, Bluetooth and a user memory of 88.5MB.

Announcing the launch, Mr. Steve Han, General Manager - Telecommunications, Samsung Gulf Electronics (SGE) said: "Camera phones have prompted an exponential demand, and with the launch of multipurpose phones such as Samsung's SGH-E720 and SGH-X640, we expect camera-enabled phones to become the mobile phone industry's flagship model. Integrated features such as the MP3 player will further fuel this rising demand and that is where we have positioned our innovative SGH-E720."

SGH-X640 features 65k color TFT display using a UFB screen (Ultra fine and bright), built-in VGA (640x480) camera, WAP 2.0 Internet browser, Java support, 10MB shared memory and built-in Speakerphone.

"Samsung has the distinction of consistently delivering innovation to Middle East's mobile communications industry by introducing high-resolution TFT-OLED screens, LCD colour displays, MP3 feature, Bluetooth, built-in mega pixel digital and built-in antenna technology. Now, Samsung has combined these technologies to introduce these phones," said Mr. Sandeep Saihgal, Sales and Marketing Manager - Telecommunications, SGE.

The E720 also supports MP3 files just like a PC, with a full range of entertainment options and with specially designed external hotkeys. With these hotkeys the users can listen to tunes or control multimedia clips without flipping the case. The phone allows for faster, smarter, always-on downloads, connectivity with Bluetooth technology and USB connections.

"In the Middle East, consumers have been demanding more and more features in their phones. To address the needs of our consumers, we put together our research, marketing, engineering and technology teams together to develop phones like the SGH-E720 and SGH-X640 that aspire to establish trends in technology and design," Mr. Saihgal, concluded.
