World's third largest media company to expand in Dubai

The President of the world's third largest media company Bertelsmann Damenkreisfahrt of Germany Ms. Liz Mohn was recently in Dubai to explore the investment opportunities in a similar field.

The visit was as a result of the cooperation between the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Mondia FZLLC Company, representative of Bertelsmann Damenkreisfahrt in Dubai.

DTCM Manager Missions Mr. Hamad bin Mejren who received her said: "This invitation was as part of the department's strategy to market the emirate as a model destination for investors and businessmen."

"Ms. Mohn's interest in selecting the UAE and particularly Dubai for investment is directly as a result of the facilities Dubai offers to international business investors," Mr. bin Mejren explained.

Headed by Ms. Mohn, the German group of 25 women included wives of Ms. Mohn's company CEO's who were in Dubai on a three-day visit.

Manager of Mondia Mr. Simon Rahman said: "Bertelsmann Damenkreisfahrt owned by Ms. Mohn has 82,000 employees in more than 50 countries and an annual turnover of US$20 billion. Bertelsmann owns 31 TV stations all over Europe including the RTL Group, the No. 1 European broadcaster. In addition, it owns 30 Radio Stations in Europe."

Bertelsmann produces, serves and markets media and includes Random House, the world's largest book-publishing group; Gruner + Jahr, Europe's biggest magazine publisher; and BMG, the umbrella of Sony BMG Music Entertainment and BMG Music Publishing.

The DTCM entertained the group with a number of activities including a city tour and visits to the Dubai Museum and a number of other developments and attractions.
