National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has thrown its support and name behind the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi's First Annual Conference for Middle East Teachers of Science, Mathematics and Computing - titled METSMaC-1.
NBAD spokesperson Mr. Saif Al Munakhas Al Shehhi - General Manager, Domestic Banking Division.said:"As the UAE's largest bank, NBAD is pleased to support the The Petroleum Institute in their admirable objective of improving the teaching of mathematics and the sciences by gathering together the distinguished participants in this ground-breaking conference"
The conference is aimed at teachers and lecturers of mathematics, the sciences, and computing at the upper secondary, foundation/pre-university, and the early years of college/university levels from across the United Arab Emirates, and around the Middle East. The role of the conference is to:
• exchange ideas, techniques and methods related to science, mathematics and computing education;
• learn new and/or different general teaching techniques aimed at improving classroom teaching and classroom discipline that can be applied to the teaching of any science, mathematics and computing class
• learn practical ways to improve science, mathematics and computing teaching and learning;
• understand how new approaches to the teaching of science, mathematics and computing supports and improves classroom practice;
• discuss key issues in the science, mathematics and computing education;
• build professional networks.
Speakers include: Dr. Richard Karas: Educational Consultant, USA; Dr. Glenda Anthony: Massey University, New Zealand- Mathematics; Dr. Musa Shongwe: Sultan Qaboos University, Oman - Science; Dr. Nancy Schley: Madison Area Technical College, USA - Computing
