Emirates profits up 49%, $708m

Emirates Group has declared a 49% surge in profits to $708m for the year 2004-5, on revenues ahead by 36% to $5.2bn. Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said that the profit came despite $1bn in extra fuel costs of which only 47% was covered by a surcharge.
