Presented by the Fine Art Gallery, the art exhibition features more than 1,200 works of over 50 international artists. After traveling to major international art capitals such as Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Oslo, Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia over two years, the global art roadshow now finds a permanent home in Sharjah's Qanat Al Qasba.
The art gallery is a major development in the Dhs70 million Qanat Al Qasba project initiated by the Qasba Development Authority and managed by reputed leisure consultants Thomas Klein International. Since its launch in mid-April, the Qanat Al Qasba has succeeded in providing a unique cultural, entertainment and leisure environment while incorporating traditional and modern features.
Explaining that the 'Arts & Antiques Bazaar' will further reinforce Sharjah's reputation as the region's cultural capital, H.H. Sheikha Bodour Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Qasba Development Authority, which initiated the project, said that the aim of the exhibition was to allow as many people as possible to understand and appreciate art talents on a single platform.
'Qanat Al Qasba is a cultural landmark reflecting both traditional and modern outlooks, in a vibrant atmosphere. It is therefore fitting that an exhibition that combines established and avant garde styles be associated with this premier destination,' Sheikha Bodour said. 'With these spectacular artworks now being exhibited in Qanat Al Qasba, we hope that residents, especially the younger generations, can acknowledge the contribution of Arabian artists to the international cultural scene.'
The works will be displayed over 4,000 square meters of Qanat Al Qasba and features contemporary and modern styles in mixed media formats such as paintings, artifacts, sculptures, Arabic art, among others. The exhibition includes works of international artists such as Isabel Djenorou and Michel Debelow (France), Peter Stanzby (United Kingdom), Breta Gustav (Norway), as well their Arabic counterparts Emad Thaher Al Obaidi, Khassem Ali and Muteeh Al Jumaili (Iraq).
Pointing out that the 'Arts & Antique Bazaar' reflected a fresh new dimension in Qanat Al Qasba's range of attractions, Daniel During, Managing Partner of Thomas Klein Group, added that the establishment of the gallery was in line with the vision of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to further promote the thriving art and cultural talent available in the region.
'Far from the typical impression of an art exhibition being a quiet, subdued affair, the Arts and Antiques Bazaar is alive with the sounds of various Qanat Al Qasba attractions such as the Eye of the Emirates observatory wheel, the Aladdin circus.' During said. 'Instead of the cut-off feeling that many patrons of the arts get from a visit to a gallery or museum, at Qanat Al Qasba, visitors get to meet the artists and learn about their motivations and excitement with the work that they are creating - sometimes right before their eyes!'
The Arts and Antiques Bazaar will be held at Qanat Al Qasba from April 27th and will be open to the public on all days from 5 pm to 10 pm.
