For the first time, highly-competitive cities collectively sought to provide a platform where non-governmental organisations also shared their best practice experiences with each other.

The session, which provided a platform for dialogue and engagement between global players seeking opportunities to synergize efforts, provided knowledge exchange and unlocked business opportunities.

In addition, the session provided BestCities.net members an opportunity to present the facilities they offered to the aforementioned organisations, which regularly hold annual meetings.

BestCities.net was launched in 2000 and the Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB), which is affiliated to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), has been a member of BestCities.net since February 2003.

According to DCB Director Mr. Awadh Al Seghayer, "Dubai hosted the annual meeting of BestCities.net in October 2003 and this session will add further impetus to our efforts in promoting Dubai as a convention destination."

BestCities is a global alliance comprising eight convention bureau partners in Cape Town, Copenhagen, Dubai, Edinburgh, Melbourne, San Juan, Singapore and Vancouver. This was the second meeting of BestCities.net for this year.
