- PRESS RELEASE
The 5th Executive Logistics Leadership Seminar was organized by TransLogistique Canada (TLC) from April 17 to 19, 2005.
When Dubai is consumed by excellence of quality as a city that cares, it was the hallmark of presentations that covered -
• Logistics Framework and Design for Excellence
• Balancing Supply and Demand for Inventory Optimization
• Customer Service Excellence
• Network Relationship in Knowledge Management Excellence
• Bar Coding, RFID and Voice Directed System Excellence
• Six Sigma in Supply Chain Excellence
• Systems Analysis in Supply Chain Excellence
• Dubai Logistics City in the Hub-and-Spoke System Excellence
• Logistics Leadership Through Four "E's" of Excellence
(Ethics + Enthusiasm + Evaluation + Empathy).
"It was fitting moment that the seminar theme coincided with the mood of the state in awarding excellence of performance in all Dubai government departments esp The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC). I would like to reinforce that all presentations were done in an excellent manner by five logistics experts within three days. It was nuggets of knowledge in a nutshell of excellence. "
"For example in a session on technology excellence, logistics consultants like TLC are recommending voice directed systems (a.k.a. speech-based systems, or voice-technology systems) which integrates with Warehouse Management System (WMS) or logistics software. Voice Technology delivers improved productivity and accuracy in the pick and inventory control processes within warehouse management process. Portable voice systems consist of a headset with a microphone and a wearable computer. " Prof Philbert Suresh, TransLogistique FZ LLC.
In the teleconference with the author, James Roswell Quinn, stated that leadership excellence is "The Art of Self-Control", and all attempts to influence or control others are focused on the wrong person. Quinn's revolutionary system recognizes that while we all tend to react to different stressful situations in one of four classic ways; nobody reacts the same way all of the time. His toolkit simplifies the choices we face when confronted with challenging people and situations, not based on stereotypical classifications, but on the realities of the moment.
Prof Philbert Suresh also announced that, "The challenge of leadership development in the logistics will be rightly taken through a process of mentoring senior national management and policymakers through a three week long boot-camp in Toronto this summer. It will be followed by a two-day workshop on 'The Global Logistics: The Reverse Leadership in a Supply Chain" between July 7 and 8, 2005,in Toronto for the executives in North America who wish to bridge their understanding of trading practices and cultures research done by TLC recently. The next executive logistics leadership seminar will be held in Abu Dhabi from August 15 to 17, 2005"
