Sharjah shines again at ATM 2005

As part of its continuous efforts to promote and develop the tourism sector of Sharjah, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) announced the second phase of its hotel classification project and its eighth participation at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM 2005) to be held in Dubai, 3-6 May, 2005.

The one year project is mainly focused on setting new international Sharjah-friendly standers to ensure a high quality of services provided within the hotels sector of Sharjah.

"Providing internationally certified quality services will play a major roll in giving more credit to Sharjah hotel sector. This will ensure a continuous tourists flow and more participation for the tourism sector to the GDP of Sharjah." Says Mohamed A. Al Noman, Director of SCTDA Giving the green light for the second phase of the project.

As phase one included an inventory of Sharjah hotels, resorts and hotel apartments, the collected data has been used as a main source for setting new standards and rules to classify the hotel sector. Phase two, of the four phased project, will include a full inspection of the Sharjah hotel sector. Hotels, resorts and hotel apartment will be graded according to the newly- adopted classification system. Hoteliers will be given the opportunity to comply to the rules, either by accepting the statues-quo or by requesting an upgrade, for which they have to fulfill the requirements within a preplanned time schedule.

"We have taken quality to be our only choice. Our marketing strategies has to be supported by a high standers of quality services. We have to insure sustainable development of our product and innovative approach toward the international tourism market." Says Al Noman in his comment on the project.

By participating at ATM 2005, SCTDA is aiming to serve the purpose of promoting the emirate Sharjah as one of the most popular Middle East tourist destinations

"With 253 s.qmt stand space, we are focusing again on another symbol of Sharjah heritage and culture, the Arts Museum. We are keen on showing the uniqueness of Sharjah as being the most distinguished destination for culture, heritage and family tourism." Say Mohamed A. Al Noman, Director of SCTDA in his comment on the participation.

The promotion process is a well planned and thoughtfully coordinated efforts of many key players for a focused goal - showing the uniqueness of Sharjah as the most distinguished destination for culture and heritage tourism," says Mohamed A. Sharjah's delegation at ATM 2005 is headed by H.E Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi, SCTDA Chairman. The delegation includes senior representatives from Radisson SAS Resort, Coral Beach Resort, Sharjah National Hotels, Millennium Hotel, Embassy Suites Hotel, MH Group (Carlton, Nova Park, Beach Motel, Golden Beach Hotel), SATA/Sharjah Civil Aviation, Tropic International Tours, Orient Tours, and Air Arabia.
