Dar Al Khair, the newsletter of WWF UAE and Emirates Wildlife Society, is out with its Volume 8 Spring Edition 2005.

The lead feature makes a plea to save Dubai's "Green Lung" - Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. So far, this little patch of wilderness amidst shimmering high rises and swirling traffic has survived. But will its ecological integrity remain preserved when it comes face to face with the tidal wave of construction sweeping the emirate? WWF/EWS would like to adopt an optimistic view.

Meanwhile, we go ahead with various conservation projects such as the conservation of coral habitats in the Arabian Gulf, the Enviro-Spellathon, and CITES enforcement capacity building, among others. Internationally, WWF celebrated World Wetlands Week, lobbied governments to recognize climate change as a serious threat and continued the fight to save the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (Alaska) threatened by plans to drill for oil.

Our corporate partners in the UAE have been so supportive! Khaleej Times by willingly reporting on our activities and offering us free advertising; Choithram for their responsible business practices; National Bank of Dubai, Dolphin Energy, AMEInfo, First Gulf Bank and others in the WWF Corporate Club who are contributing resources for conservation.
