Union National Bank conducts a seminar on Risk Management

Union National Bank (UNB) conducted a seminar on Risk Management at the UNB Training Centre in Abu Dhabi.
Mr. Atef El Dib, SVP & Head of Risk management at UNB commented saying, "UNB is a front-runner in the area of Risk Management and the seminar contributed in creating greater awareness among the participants about the importance and imperatives of Risk Management and its interrelationship with Basel II requirements".
The seminar was attended by over 30 officials from across the Bank. Various Issues pertaining to different kinds of Risks, namely Market Risk, Credit Risk and Operational Risk as also the Basel II requirements were discussed during the course of the seminar.
Mr. Atef El Dib, SVP & Head of Risk Management at UNB, briefed the participants on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) which covered the framework for Risk Management in a banking environment. While Mr. Ahmed Lasheen, Manager - Risk Management, presented the Risk Reporting details. He discussed the methodology of various Risk Analysis that get reported to Senior Management. Mr. Suresh Jagannathan, Manager - Risk Management spoke about Market Risk Management. He presented the conceptual framework for measuring and hedging Market Risk including caste study on major losses.
Mr. Nic Davies and Mr. Bao from Credit & Risk Infrastructure Australia spoke to the participants on Credit Risk Management and Value Creation. Mr. Keith Blankley of Euro Banking Solutions addressed the participants on Operational Risk Management of Banks. Keeping in view the importance of Risk Management in the context of Basel II requirements for Banks and Financial Institutions.
As part of the future plans of UNB, the Training department of the Bank proposes to organize in future several more such seminars in other areas of relevance and interest.
