The first Dubai International Horse Fair (DIHF) 2005, which took place concurrently with the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship, has met with encouraging success from equestrian trade exhibitors from around the world.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Horse Fair saw support from local and global leaders in the equestrian industry, from companies such as; Shadwell Stud UK, Abu Haleeqa Stores, Al Awani, Equitech Fabricators, Gulf Rider, Horse and Carriage, Shaklan, Stableforce, Olympic Horse Feeds, Halycon Gallery, Horse Weigh and the British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA). The show brought brands, potential customers, and businesses together and proved valuable for participants.

Dubai has re-affirmed its leading regional position in the equestrian sector and has once again displayed this dynamic city's ability to produce an event worthy of global recognition. Horse Fair saw participation from 133 companies from 16 countries and attracted over 6,313 trade, consumer and VIP visitors. Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre said, "Horse Fair has certainly created a winning formula when it comes to generating a buzz in the equestrian market. The calibre and extent of trade support this inaugural year has been a strong indication of its potential success in the future".

Exhibitors were pleased with having participated in the event, for example, NutriFeed received international visitors to the stand which meant that they could increase awareness for the brand and product, not only in the UAE but to a global audience. Bader al Sudom Trading is currently promoting a new product; 'Warm up horse' and found an excellent response from being at the show which has lead to several business contacts. Similarly BETA saw a number of its members enjoy new and promising business opportunities. The presence of such regionally and internationally renowned brands establishes a partnership with DIHF that will no doubt grow from strength to strength over subsequent shows.

Dubai is fast becoming a regional leader and hub for trade and consumer events and the Horse Fair is just such an example of Dubai's commitment to excellence in every field. Sheikh Hamdan's own stud farms: Shadwell Farm, Shadwell Stud and Derrinstown Stud had a prominent position at the Fair and were successful at informing and educating trade and general consumers alike about their existing scope of operations.

Starting a day after Dubai World Cup DIHF attracted both international exposure as well as international visitorship. Keeping in line with the same timings, next year's event dates have been scheduled for March 26th - 29th, 2006
