Commenting on the importance of the conference Mohammed Kamali, General Director, Judicial Training and Studies Institute said, "Information and communications revolution, new technologies and the increased use of the internet has led to a rise in the number of electronic crimes. It has therefore become crucial for the judicial, law and public security machinery in the country to be made aware of issues pertaining to such crimes, in order that they may execute their duties to ensure a safe and just society."
"Fighting software piracy has been accorded great international importance. The agenda of the conference falls well within the remit of the institute, whose aim is to raise awareness and uphold the legal statutes of the UAE by establishing partnerships with international and local governmental and non-governmental bodies. Organising this conference in co-operation with BSA is an affirmation of our commitment," he added.
"Through this conference, BSA' hopes to familiarise the participants on the international practices in protecting intellectual property rights and fighting Internet crimes. Protection of intellectual property rights leads to the creation of favourable atmosphere for investments and spurs growth in the national economy," said Jawad Al Redha, Co-chairman, BSA Middle East.
