The opening ceremony will be under the Auspices of H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Suhime Al Thani on May 9, 2005 at 5 PM. The show will take place at the Qatar International Exhibition Center (QIEC) in Doha and will be open to visitors from May 9th to 12th, 2005, from 4:00PM. to 10:00 PM
'With a growth rate of around 9%, more than double the world average, the IT and Telecom sectors in the Gulf region are creating vast opportunities for investment and trade,' said Fadi Jreissati, General Manager of IFP Qatar. More than 120 local and international brands are taking part in this event to showcase their most innovative digital products and latest technologies. The show is sponsored by Microsoft, Qatar e-Government and Qtel. It also includes a Lebanese Pavilion supported by IDAL, PCA and the Union of Arab ICT Associations 'Ijma3'.
At COMIT QATAR 2005 , an Education Showcase will host a Qatar Foundation exhibit and applications for education, e-learning and language schools. Hundreds of schools look forward to be equipped with the latest hardware, networks and peripheral devices over the next years. 'This massive undertaking will impact computer and educational product sales dramatically, and will also increase the number of internet users as students go online,' emphasized Jreissati.
COMIT 2005 will feature a Computer Shopper area offering the latest in the world of computer technology, and daily drawing of prizes to visitors including valuable mobile phones and electronics.
Special activities sponsored by Microsoft will include presentation and training in open-class style, full demonstration on Microsoft Media Center and raffle draw on XBOX, software and training vouchers.
Daily conferences will also be held by other exhibitors at COMIT 2005 and will cover the latest in information technology and communications.
To promote COMIT across Qatar, IFP published a special Newsletter comprised of articles and interviews with prominent players in the IT and communications sectors. More than 4,000 copies of this newsletter have already been distributed to leading businessmen and top industry players in Qatar.
