This green space in the heart of Beirut will host 15 gardens and 145 stands dedicated to gardening and the furnishing of 'outdoor spaces', encouraging visitors to embellish their terraces and gardens.
Most of the Lebanese tree nurseries will be there as well as foreign ones from the Ile de France and the Netherlands. The 'Mediterranean Garden Society', an association striving to give the Mediterranean gardens identity a clear definition, will also take part in the event.
Several gardening workshops will be organized by individuals or private entities such as the American University and the Region Ile de France. From the concept of 'a healing garden' to the development and planning of the terraces and balconies using different techniques for plant and flower trimming and others, visitors will have the chance to take a closer look at many aspects of the gardening art.
Being interested in all nature-related issues, the Garden Show this year is organizing:
• A market for biological products also known under the name of 'Souk el Tayeb'. This souk came about following the first edition of the Garden Show. In this edition, 'El Tayeb' labels will be distributed and the souk will celebrate its first anniversary in the presence of friends and journalists.
• An area with a number of artisans gathered together by Nayla Bassili. The artisans will use natural materials to create items for decorating terraces and gardens. On Wednesday 18 May, the 'most useful item' competition will be organized and the winner will receive a valuable prize.
• A space dedicated for ecotourism in Lebanon. Different associations will take part in it as well as traditional artisans working in glass blowing, pottery, karket arak crafting, weaving…
Moreover, the first 'Gardening Club' will be created, assembling gardening fans and amateurs. This club aims to promote the exchange of know-how, tips, plants and grains among the different members all year round.
A 'tombola' is being organized during the event and gardening-themed prizes will be distributed. A restaurant and several kiosks will be providing food to visitors. Last but not least, a big space is being allocated to children to allow them to play, draw and learn the art of gardening.
