MIVAN DEPA short listed for interior works on Prestigious Museum of Islamic Art Project in Qatar

The demanding and valuable project is in the landmark building designed by the world renowned I.M. Pei.

Mivan has vast experience and knowledge in providing finishes and setworks for museums around the World, with its most notable recent project in the sector being the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester. Conceptualized by the controversial Daniel Libeskind who designed the iconic building and the exhibition plinths, the contract involved the creation of strangely shaped galleries and the integration of projection systems for the "total immersion" visitor experience. The Imperial War Museum North was highly commended at the Museums & Heritage Show Awards for Excellence in the 'Permanent Exhibition' category.

The announcement came just days after Mivan DEPA's participation at the recent Theme Parks & Fun Centres Show (TPFC) at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) that ended on April 26th 2005, where the newly established company reported an excellent customer response.

"Dubai's dynamic tourism policy is driving our business even harder. There really is no limit to what Mivan DEPA can create," continued Hicken. "Many of our Themed Entertainments Association colleagues attended the exhibition and all found it most worth-while."

Mivan DEPA executives were honoured by a visit to their impressive stand by Mr. Qassim Sultan, Director General of the Dubai Municipality, Mr. Abdul Rahman Falaknaz of IEC, organizers of the event, and also Mrs. Jane Cooper Chairman of IAAPA, (the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) which is the industry's top trade organization.

The company already has several projects in its sights, and the TPFC Show confirmed that still more are in the pipeline. The global theme parks-to-museums company were impressed by the quality of the enquiries they received at the show, and they look forward to a number of large-scale visitor attraction works during the coming year.

Mivan DEPA LLC was launched on February 8th 2005 in a joint venture between DEPA, the Middle East's premier hotel interiors contracting company, and Mivan Limited of Northern Ireland, a specialist theming contractor for over 15 years and the biggest single contractor to work on the original build of Euro Disney in Paris. The new company was created to offer specialised themed interiors for development and entertainment projects in the Middle East region.
