FESD Dubai set to showcase disaster prevention technology at German Innovation Center
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, May 09 - 2005 at 14:38
- PRESS RELEASE
The company's Disaster Prevention Systems, which focus on securing servers, databases, and mission critical equipment needed to maintain the operational continuity of businesses, governments, and organizations, will be displayed alongside other cutting edge technologies engineered and manufactured in Germany.
Created in 1998 through a joint research and development initiative between FESD and the Max Planck institute, FESD's Disaster Prevention Systems differ from traditional room extinguishing systems by utilizing an active detection system, which allows for the earliest possible detection of fire, and by utilizing Argon, an inert human/hardware gas, to safely secure sensitive hardware.
'During our research on the relationship between fire and the business community we noticed that room extinguishing systems were not facilitating the up-time tech-dependent companies require' explains Ms. Spoerl. 'By relying on passive detection systems which delay the recognition of fire and using chemical gases, such as FM 200, which corrode hardware and prevent IT managers from accessing their equipment, the majority of room extinguishing systems are clearly built on the assumption that maintaining the integrity of building infrastructure is key to operational continuity and not the hardware and networks required to keep a business running.'
On display at the German Innovation Center is the company's latest OFP disaster prevention solution, featuring enhanced networking capabilities which allow IT and security managers to receive information and updates on the environment surrounding crucial equipment, such as temperature, humidity, and smoke measures, by email, SMS, and SMTP messages.
FESD's disaster prevention systems will be on display and open to the public at the German Innovation Center until the end of 2005.

Related InformationFESD was established with funding from a German government research and development initiative in 1998. Working together with Germany's leading Max Planck Institute, FESD engineered and developed truly unique and essential security systems based on Disaster Prevention Systems and Biometrics Technology. Driven by initial success in its home country, FESD quickly expanded throughout Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
FESD Dubai, the company's regional representation for the Middle East, South Asia, and Africa, was established in November 2002. FESD Dubai has achieved many notable achievements since its recent opening including the certification of its products by the UAE government (the only non-local business to have obtained such a distinction,) product launches and initial installations in Africa and India, and a doubling of its workforce to keep up with growing demand.
