- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Maritime City today participated at Waterfront 2005 Dubai, the Middle East's leading conference that focuses on the future of global coastline development.
The presentation included a summary on the magnitude of the world's first maritime cluster that will be located on a 216-hectare man-made peninsula on Dubai's coastline, aimed at serving the needs of a diverse global maritime audience. It was also emphasized that Dubai Maritime City will add a new dimension to Dubai, as its creation will satisfy a growing need for a multi-dimensional maritime center in the region.
By offering world-class infrastructure, services and regulations, Dubai Maritime City will create a unique specialized environment that will promote the networking and integration of leading maritime companies in one destination. The ambitious and visionary project is in keeping with the aim of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defense of the UAE, to consolidate Dubai's position as a global commercial hub.
Commenting on the importance of the event to the Middle East's business community and the maritime industries around the world, the spokesperson added: "We are delighted to be here with other 'mega project' developers to discuss and further our shared goal of creating sustainable and visionary business models that are placing Dubai's waterfront at the cutting edge of global commerce and reinforcing its potential to be a world-class destination for the maritime community."
"As the first development of its kind, Dubai Maritime City will provide a strategic location for seven main sectors: maritime management, maritime services, maritime retail and recreation, maritime education and research, ship repair and maintenance, yacht repair and maintenance, and yacht manufacture. The first phase of the project will be ready for occupation by the end of 2006," he said.
Waterfront 2005 Dubai, opened by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai's Land Department and brought together leading international industry experts to tackle key issues surrounding waterfront developments worldwide.
