Spider bite fears

Residents in Dubai are concerned that a lack of availability of antivenom for the poisonous redback spider is endangering lives. A doctor at Rashid Hospital told Gulf News that the antivenom is not carried in emergency ambulances nor does the hospital stock it. The redback spider is native to Australia and it is thought they arrived in the UAE about 10 years ago.
