British University in Dubai (BUiD) offering scholarships to UAE Nationals

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) today announced scholarships specifically for UAE Nationals who hold degrees from Zayed University, the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) and UAE University.

Potential graduate students, who have applied to the University's Masters programmes in Informatics, Education or Project Management, are invited to apply for the Zayed, UAE University or HCT scholarship. The scholarships are for 75% of tuition fees and are valued at AED 60,000 each.

Three scholarships are being offered by the University and will be awarded to one high achieving graduate holding a Bachelors degree from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT), UAE University and Zayed University. The successful applicants will commence their studies in the next academic year, which begins in September 2005.

In order to apply for the scholarship, applicants must have be holding the offer of a place to study a masters programme at the Knowledge Village based university. The programme application form can be found on the University's website at www.buid.ac.ae . Scholarship applications must be completed by July 15, 2005.

Commenting on the scholarships David Lock, Registrar and Acting Chief Executive of the University said, "We hope that providing this generous scholarship will encourage national students in this region to pursue a post-graduate education based on the best in British educational standards."

This latest offering from BUiD, is in addition to a number of 50% tuition fee scholarships being offered for programmes beginning in the September. It follows previous scholarships offered by the University and major UAE organizations including: the Emirates Group, Atkins, Dubai Duty Free and DUCAB. Their continued support enables well deserving students, who may otherwise have been unable to pursue a post-graduate education, to study for Master's degree at BUiD.

The founders of the University are the Al Maktoum Foundation, The Dubai Development and Investment Authority, Rolls Royce, the British Business Group and the National Bank of Dubai. The University is managed by a provisional council under the chairmanship of Sheikh Ahmed bin Seed Al Maktoum.

Other organisations have shown their support for BUiD by providing scholarships. These include the Emirates Group, Dubai Duty Free, DUCAB and Atkins. In addition to providing scholarships, Atkins has also funded a professorship in the new institute of the Built Environment which has been established in partnership with the University of Cardiff, UK.
