Fujitsu Siemens Computers holds 'Virtualisation Day' workshops on maximisation of server resources
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, May 12 - 2005 at 13:39
- PRESS RELEASE
Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), the leading international IT company, provided in depth knowledge into maximisation of server resources at the Virtualisation Day workshops held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai on May 10 and 11, 2005.
"Studies have shown that enterprises use just about 20 to 40 per cent capacity of their server resources. This is because systems are dimensioned to handle peak loads, dedicated servers are installed for each application and redundant systems are configured for testing, development and disaster recovery purposes. As a result, systems keep getting bigger and system management keeps getting more complicated," said Colin Britto, Sales Manager, Large Enterprises, Gulf Region, FSC.
"Virtualisation provides the best answer as it enables pooling of processor and storage resources for on-demand use, instead of using dedicated systems for individual applications. Another benefit of virtualisation is that the IT infrastructure can be adapted to meet new requirements faster and more easily, which makes the company itself more flexible," added Britto.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers highlighted four basic technologies to support virtualisation of its systems and permit optimal implementation of software and system architectures.
