  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, May 15 - 2005 at 09:01
  • PRESS RELEASE

Special introductory offers await Emirates' passengers for the first month of the airline's new daily non-stop services to Alexandria, Egypt, which the airline will launch on Sunday 15th May.

Some offers will be valid even longer. The famed historical city, the airline's second Egyptian destination, also will double as another convenient gateway to Cairo.

Fare Offers

Emirates' customers can visit Alexandria from Dubai at a special return fare for booking through conventional means and at a further reduced fare for booking online. Both these great offers are valid till 15th June. The airline has extended similar special offers between Alexandria and several cities on its network in the Middle East, Far East and Australia.

Skywards Offers

To celebrate the launch, Skywards is offering members a choice of two splendid offers. Passengers flying on the new route till 25th June will earn 9,500 Bonus Miles for a return journey. The total Miles earned on a return trip to Alexandria during this period are enough for a one-way Business Class upgrade to Dubai or a return flight in Economy Class as per the reduced promotional reward Miles detailed below. One-way flights earn 4,750 Bonus Miles.

In addition, those travelling outbound from Dubai during this period can avail of reward flights to Alexandria for 50 per cent of the Miles normally required. While the Economy Class reward can be availed at 12,500 Miles, reduced from 25,000 Miles, the Business Class one is available at 25,000 Miles, reduced from 50,000 Miles.

Airport-city-airport transfers

Once they land at Alexandria's Borg Al Arab (HBE) airport, passengers will travel in style and comfort to their final destinations. Business Class passengers will be whisked away in luxurious chauffeur-driven limousines to the city's downtown areas, Cairo or to any location in a radius of 275kms from HBE airport. Cairo is located approximately 180kms away from HBE.

Economy Class passengers can avail of complimentary luxury motor coach transfers from HBE to Cairo and back. The coach leaves Cairo at 0930 hours and arrives in HBE at 1200 hours in time for departure of EK932 at 1400 hrs to Dubai. The pick-up and drop-off point in Cairo is the Jameat El Dowal El Arabeya St. in front of Mostfa Mahmood Mosque in Mohandeseen.

Excess baggage

To cap it all, Emirates' passengers from Dubai to Alexandria can now shop to their hearts' content as the airline is offering an excess baggage allowance of 50 kilos until further notice. What's more, Skywards members can avail of the same excess baggage allowance coming back from Alexandria until 25th June.

Nasser bin Kherbash, Emirates' Senior Vice President Commercial - Africa said: "We are confident that Alexandria will prove to be a highly successful route for Emirates. Our services to the city offer an alternative perspective on Egypt and quick access to Cairo, benefiting both our leisure and business travellers.

"The launch of our services has generated considerable buzz in the country and internationally across our network. We are promoting the city worldwide with a range of special offers and value-added services, as well as an intensive communications campaign."

Emirates flight EK931 will depart Dubai at 09:10hrs to reach Alexandria at 12:30hrs; the return flight EK932 will leave the city at 14:00hrs to reach Dubai at 19:00hrs. The airline will deploy its A310 aircraft in a two class configuration - 21 in Business and 177 in Economy. Those wanting to return home at a later time can connect to Dubai via the Cairo flight that departs the city at 19:15hrs everyday.
