DTCM participates in career fair in Dubai

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) is participating in the on going 'Career Fair', a job fair for the UAE nationals at the Dubai World Trade Centre (May 16th to 8th).

Aimed at encouraging local youths to work in the tourism sector, the fair was inaugurated by HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai and Defence Minister of the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited the DTCM stand where he was received by DTCM Director General Mr. Khalid bin Sulayem, DTCM Director Operations & Marketing Mr. Mohammed Khamis bin Hareb and DTCM Manager Human Resources, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot.

Mr. bin Sulayem highlighted to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the department's commitment to boost the Emiritisation by providing employment to more and more UAE nationals in its endeavor to be fully localized by 2015.

"Participating in 'Career UAE' is another concrete and serious step in our ongoing endeavor to provide recruitment to more and more UAE nationals in the tourism sector. UAE nationals form 73 per cent of the total employees within the department with the high ranking senior staff comprising 88 per cent while some sections within the department boasting 100 per cent of UAE nationals," said Mr. bin Sulayem.

He stated that such events would serve as a platform to highlight activities and features of DTCM among the fresh local graduates and students.

The DTCM established Emiratisation Task Force in 2001, which consists of representatives from the private sectors also.

"The stupendous success the task force has achieved is a fine example of cooperation and coordination between public and private sectors in Dubai," said Mr. Yaqoot.

The Emiratisation Task Force conducts courses in summers every year related to service and tourism industry and provides on-the-job trainings and summer jobs in the department as well as in the Dubai hotels.

The Emiratisation Task Force for Tourism members are Jebel Ali International Hotels, Jumeirah International, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Grand Hyatt Dubai, Accor and TANMIA.
Both the public and private sector organizations from all over the UAE are participating in the three-day event.
