- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, May 18 - 2005 at 15:06
- PRESS RELEASE
Ibn Battuta Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in Dubai, has joined the league of 12 Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS 2005) key sponsors thus taking the total number of supporters to 13.
Located adjacent to Sheikh Zayed Road between Interchanges 5 and 6, the Mall combines retail, entertainment, restaurants and family activities all within a spectacular themed environment that is designed to reflect the unique combination of the various heritages and cosmopolitan lifestyles that are the very essence of Dubai. Inspired by the travels of legendary Arab explorer Ibn Battuta, the Mall is an iconic landmark project of Nakheel that has been developed for residents and tourists from the region and all over the world.
The entertainment options offered at the Mall range from the 21 screen Grand Megaplex including the UAE's first IMAX cinema (opening soon), a fully themed Chinese Garden and a uniquely designed Food Court. The architectural inspiration behind the distinctive design of the shopping Mall is based around the travels of the renowned 14th Century explorer Ibn Battuta, and is segmented into six distinct architectural zones, representing key destinations visited by the Arab traveller.
Says Saeed Al Nabouda, DSS CEO, "It's a matter of pride for us to have the support of such a big and extraordinary Mall in the region. Ibn Battuta Mall joining the list of key sponsors of DSS 2005 shows the impressive success of the event in boosting trade and tourism in the Emirate. The DSS office encourages all companies and organisations to participate in the 10 theme-specific weeks and to make a joint success of this Government of Dubai initiative which sees the largest participation of the private sector."
Adds Murray Scanlan, Ibn Battuta Mall Manager, "We are very happy to support the Dubai Summer Surprises 2005 and to join their long list of well-known key sponsors. The Mall will be hosting a number of entertaining events and activities for families and children throughout the six spectacular courts including Andalusia, Tunisia, Egypt, Persia, India and China," he says adding, "The Mall offers the perfect retail mix that includes world-class fashion outlets, home décor stores, electronics, jewellery, bookshops, Grand Megaplex cinema, a Restaurant Court and a Food Court. We look forward to playing an important role in entertaining families and visitors during DSS 2005."
