In January this year, it achieved the outstanding result of 9,500 MMB3 users in the single server category, which is the best mark for all published 4-way servers, in the Exchange Server 2003 MMB3.

As a result, the PRIMERGY BX660 has been able to achieve 200 more MMB3 users than rival systems which were identically equipped with regard to CPUs and memory, while attaining 50 per cent better response times.

"Achieving world records across our product range demonstrates that we have a deep understanding of Microsoft Exchange, the leading messaging and collaboration platform," said Rajesh Deepchandani, Product Marketing Manager, Large Enterprise, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

"This expertise is critical to our customers and clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to them. Through understanding the overall environment, we are able to optimise the set up and performance of Microsoft Exchange Server. The experiences gathered during our own in-house migration have been included in our easyXchange offering," he added.

"This world-best underlines our joint efforts for Exchange Server consolidation and migration based on the easyXchange solution of Fujitsu Siemens Computers," said Mauro Meanti, General Manager, Server & Tools Group, Microsoft EMEA.

"The benchmark clearly demonstrates the improvements in performance and manageability we've made on the Exchange platform to meet the messaging needs of even the world's largest organisations," he said.

PRIMERGY servers are the first-class choice for Microsoft Exchange Server in the 2-way server segment with the PRIMERGY TX300 S2 and the 1-way server class with the TX150 S2, as well as in the 4-node cluster category with the PRIMERGY BX620 S2.

Microsoft's Exchange MMB3 benchmark
The MAPI Messaging Benchmark (MMB3) was developed by Microsoft to enable a performance comparison of server systems across vendors using Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. Using the MMB3 user profile, the benchmark measures throughput during an eight-hour working day on the basis of a defined user profile that represents the mail traffic of a typical e-mail user, and comprises everyday mail activities such as sending, searching, reading, forwarding, as well as scheduling or the use of distribution lists.
