- PRESS RELEASE
Members of the Organising Committee (OC) of Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS 2005) met at the Dubai Police Club on Wednesday and reviewed progress in the marathon preparations being made for the eighth summer event.
The committee also reviewed preparations for the exciting events including the 10 theme-specific events being organized by various Government departments during the coming months. The Organising Committee, comprising of members from 17 Government departments, also reviewed the outcome of the DSS participation in the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) and expressed their satisfaction with the progress made so far to make DSS 2005 a unique event of fun, learning, entertainment and shopping.
"The DSS presence in the ATM, the major tourism industry exhibition in the region was well received by representatives of various airlines, hotels, tour operators and other tourism industry partners from different parts of the world," said Saeed Al Nabouda, CEO, DSS. "These tourism industry partners are actively supporting DSS by selling Dubai as a summer destination. The committee also reviewed the DSS marketing campaign including the TVC and print material to attract more family visitors from other countries," he said.
The OC members also shared new and innovative ideas to make the DSS theme weeks special occasions for enjoyment and entertainment for the whole family. The Committee also decided to depute a team headed by the DSS CEO to Jeddah for the GCC road show including representatives of hotels and tourism related companies from Dubai. The DSS mascot Modhesh, a favourite friend of all families too will accompany the delegation. The road show will move to Riyadh on May 23 and a detailed schedule is drawn out to visit other GCC capital cities.
