Etisalat hosts delegation from Oman

Their main area of interest was in Etisalat's success in the launch and application of the 3G service. Etisalat launched this service in December 2003, making it the first in the region to do so.

Saleh Al Abdooli, Manager Engineering- Mobile Systems, Etisalat, said: "The aim of this visit is to share the knowledge and experience that we have gained with our neighbours. As we are the first in the region to have successfully conducted all tests, migration and commercial launch, it is natural that we share our experiences and help others gain from it."

The delegation consists of Mr Hassan Ahmed Ashraf Al Zedjali, Technical Advisor, Corporate Development Division, OmanTel, and Dr. Rasheed Alsafi Al Huraibi, Assistant Head of Networks Division, Oman Mobile. A presentation by Saleh Al Abdooli covered the current as well as future applications available to 3G customers. These included video calls, hi-speed Internet access from mobiles, video and TV streaming, multi-player games and location-based services.

The members of the delegation appreciated the role played by Etisalat in sharing the knowledge to other operators in the region. They praised the quality and advanced level of Etisalat services, which has enabled it to become a leader in the region.
