The Ajman University of Science and Technology Network's Coordinating body recently visited a number of Arab Embassy offices in Dubai to exchange views with cultural attaches on a number of issues.
Dr Bashier Shahadah, Vice President of Development & Follow Up, Mr. Osama Saeed Salman, Vice President of Media, Communications & PR, Dr Hamdi Al Shaier, and Dr Saleh Awad. The council members visited the Egyptian, Bahraini, Jordanian and Kuwaiti offices.
Dr Shahadah said, " We feel it necessary to build a linkage with all UAE-based cultural attaches to exchange views and news of educational developments here and back home in their countries."
He said, " Since Ajman University has become an international institution launching major initiatives like the UNIVERSITY OF THE FUTURE and planning to expand further in Europe, we want to support education in the Arab world by opening our doors wider for Arab students."
Thamer Saeed Salman, Vice President of Administrative and Financial Affairs at AUST Network, added, " The visit was very fruitful. We discussed the education standards in the Arab world, how to improve them, and how to coordinate educational institutions among Arab countries."
"We also discussed the fact that the competitive job market requires that students be equipped with all the necessary skills and tools," said Thamer. "In fact, more coordination is needed among Arab educational institutions at all levels, including teachers, students and officials."
Osama Salman added, "In order to achieve the objective of delivering a quality education, educational institutions need to know the ongoing requirements of the community it operates within. The meetings with the cultural attaches were very useful and the discussions touched on serious issues at the core of education."
The cultural attaches expressed their appreciation of the university Coordinating Council's visit. This is a forward-thinking initiative that will surely help in bringing together those institutions that can support higher education in the Arab world. More initiatives are needed to sustain the achievements gained in the last few decades. The Coordinating Council and the cultural attaches have agreed to activate and encourage scientific and academic visits between educational institutions and universities in the UAE and other Arab countries to achieve the ultimate goals.
