McAfee, the pioneer and worldwide leader of intrusion prevention solutions (IPS), has been named the worldwide revenue market share leader in-line network intrusion, for the year 2004, by the recently published Infonetics Research report.
Patrick Hayati, Regional Director Middle East, McAfee said, "The importance of intrusion prevention solutions has amplified around the world, including the Middle Eastern markets, as a result of the surge in cyber attacks and the changing nature of these attacks".
McAfee IntruShield has set the standard for next-generation IPS technology, by delivering a series of industry firsts, like the first to integrate signature, anomaly and DoS detection in a single appliance providing the most comprehensive protection for detecting and blocking malicious attacks.
"Today, computers are exposed to numerous vulnerabilities, requiring a robust IPS package to prevent intrusion and hacking. Our IntruShield solution has been widely accepted by users as the most effective and reliable solution, and this achievement reinforces its superior qualities," Hayati added.
"McAfee continues to deliver innovative, highly-accurate, feature-rich and scalable IPS products," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "The technical merits of McAfee's products coupled with their exclusive security focus and global presence make them a compelling choice for IPS buyers."
The recognition by Infonetics is yet another achievement for the McAfee's IPS product family, adding to similar reports from well-known research firms such as Gartner, IDC and Frost & Sullivan. McAfee has now firmly secured its position as the IPS product-of-choice for organizations of all sizes.
The market for proactive security solutions continues to experience significant growth, with network IPS solutions becoming a mainstream security technology and an integral part of an enterprise's security architecture. According to Infonetics, the estimated five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for network-based IPS is 76%, with a projected growth rate of 99% from 2004 to 2005 alone.
"McAfee IntruShield is well-suited for the Middle East markets as we are the only vendor that truly delivers on the promise of comprehensive protection for customers of all sizes. The IT industry in the Middle East is growing at a steady pace with several leading IT companies setting up operations in the region," remarked Hayati.
"The PC penetration has also witnessed a gradual increase as a result of the major expansion and development activities in the region. McAfee is committed to deliver best-in-class security solutions that cater to a diverse profile of customers, to deal with a sophisticated threat environment," Hayati added.
IntruShield's unparalleled success and broad customer adoption can be attributed to McAfee's commitment to providing customers with the industry's most accurate and scalable IPS solution that protects business availability and confidentiality from the threat of various kinds of attacks.
McAfee IntruShield is also first to deliver Virtual IPS technology for increased prevention accuracy and reduction in capital expenditure costs; first to deliver real-time encrypted threat protection for securing critical eCommerce infrastructure and the first to deliver integrated IPS and Virtual Internal Firewall functionality for enhanced internal security and lower total cost of ownership.
