Automotive industry online advertising spend breaks $1million mark in 2004

According to a preliminary study conducted by Impact Proximity iMedia, Middle East Automotive online ad spend actually exceeded the $1million mark over 2004.

This represents a milestone achievement for the online ad industry as a whole and puts the Automotive category amongst the top 3 for total spends in Internet advertising.

Furthermore, the findings reveal a near 100% increase over spends in 2003. During the same period, total online advertising industry grew by 38% revealing that the Automotive industry is growing at over twice the rate of the industry as a whole.

Although the findings represent approximate spends, the results clearly indicate that the Automotive industry is amongst the fastest growing categories in Internet advertising, now accounting for 1 out of every 7 ads currently booked across the Middle East.

General Motors continues to dominate the share of spends (in line with 2003 results) outspending all other brands by a large margin.

Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and BMW also represented sizable budgets online. In total 20 Automotive brands spent ad dollars online in 2004.
