Tejari, a key sponsor of the event, sent senior management executives to the forum where they joined delegates from across the GCC to participate in discussions that focused on the construction of a new regional information society.

"Through our dealings with administrative bodies across the region, Tejari has gained unique insight into the day-to-day workings of e-Government, and we have demonstrated the full range of our perspective at the forum. e-Government adoption is crucial to the continued economic development of the Middle East, as it ensures fast, smooth service that is not always possible with manual methods. The e-Government forum emphasized these benefits." said Abdulla Salman, Marketing Manager for Tejari.

"We have showcased how e-procurement can actually be implemented in small and big organizations through sharing our pioneering experience in operating the premier online marketplace in the region. During my presentation, I demonstrated the benefits that government departments will get out of automating their buying process," added Rami Al-Jaghoub, Tejari's Vice President for Franchise Operations. Jaghoub's presentation at the forum focused on Tejari's leadership in e-procurement, highlighting the significant cost savings and efficiencies realized by Tejari's more than 3000 trading partners.

The 11th GCC e-Government Forum was held in Dubai's World Trade Center, Al Multaqua Ballroom, from May 21 through 25. It was held to attempt to further advance the cause of e-Government in the Middle East, as Arab states aim to transfer public services to electronic channels. The seminar, organized by Datamatix, highlighted how worldwide nations are preparing their public sectors for effective e-governance, and discussed the creation of a unified strategy across the GCC.

The conference had also featured presentations from Mr. James W. Jarrett, Intel Corporation's Vice President for Legal and Government Affairs; Dr. Ehab Moustafa, Principal Consultant at the UAE's Smart Square Innovation Centre; Mr. Jens Mortensen, Vice President for Public Services and eGovernment, Oracle Middle East and Africa. Keynote themes had also included the creation of a solid infrastructure for e-Government; the progress of e-Government in Saudi Arabia; and the provision of equitable access to Online Government Services.
