- Bahrain: Thursday, May 26 - 2005 at 08:51
- PRESS RELEASE
A unique exhibition of the work of three eminent Bahraini artists marked the official opening of the TAIB Art Gallery, yesterday.
The new gallery, located on the ground floor of the 15-storey TAIB Tower, is an innovative feature of the building, whose dramatic exterior design was created by one of Bahrain's leading architects, Ahmed Janahi, and is itself a highly distinguishable work of art.
The exhibition will feature an array of sculptures by the founding member and President of the Bahrain Arts Society, Ali Al Mahmeed. Also on display are paintings by two other Society members, founder Ibrahim Busaad and Adnan Al Ahmed. These talented artists have participated in multiple art exhibitions internationally, bringing Bahrain's art and culture to the rest of the world. All three artists have received a number of prestigious awards for their contribution to the art world.
"We are delighted to be the first bank to offer a unique venue enabling both amateur and professional artists to display their works," said TAIB's Vice Chairman and CEO, Iqbal G Mamdani.
"The opening of the gallery is part of the Bank's silver jubilee celebrations and aims to create an atmosphere of more than just a business home for our clients, visitors and employees," he added. "It's such a calm and restful space in which the artworks fit very naturally."
TAIB Bank is one of Bahrain's oldest banks. Established in 1979, it was the first investment bank licensed to operate in Bahrain and now one of the region's first private banks specialized in wealth management. It is listed on the Bahrain Stock Exchange. It conducts business throughout the Gulf from its new building as well as from subsidiaries in New York, London, Mumbai, Bangalore, Istanbul and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The exhibition will be open to the public for one month from Thursday, May 26, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
