Hannover Messe to promote Mid East power show in Germany
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, May 26 - 2002 at 11:08
- PRESS RELEASE
IIR Exhibitions, organisers of Middle East Electricity - the region's premier exhibition and conference for the electricity and power sector - has signed a contract with one of Europe's top trade fair management companies Hannover Messe, to promote the show in Germany.
"As organisers of the world's largest industrial show, much of which is dedicated to power and related industries, Hannover Messe has comprehensive knowledge of the electricity and power sector. Working closely with them we can utilise this experience to bring about a larger German participation next year," said Sarah Woodbridge, Exhibitions Director, Power and Energy Division, IIR Exhibitions.
Middle East Electricity 2003 received a further boost with Germany's federal government giving early official backing to a country pavilion at the show.
"Normally we would not expect a decision until September or October. It is very significant that federal government support for exhibitors has been announced this early and underscores the importance Bonn places on the region's energy market," said Woodbridge.
At this year's Middle East Electricity the German pavilion, housing 36 exhibitors, was the largest.
In addition to Germany, the UK, Italy and France have confirmed official pavilions for Middle East Electricity 2003.
The exhibition and conference, which is supported by the UAE Ministry of Electricity and Water and the Federal Electricity & Water Authority, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from January 19 to 21, 2003.
For the first time IIR Conferences will stage an edition of their prestigious Annual Power Generation Summit alongside Middle East Electricity 2003.
Also new to the exhibition will be a dedicated lighting arena. IIR Exhibitions have launched the initiative in response to strong visitor interest and growing regional demand for lighting products. Thirty eight per cent of visitors to this year's show said they would be meeting with lighting companies, while 25 per cent of exhibitors were from the lighting sector.
"In 2003 the spotlight will fall firmly on the industrial and commercial lighting companies giving a major boost to this important and growing sector of the Middle East's power industry," said Woodbridge.
