Dubai Municipality to sign Metro contract

Dubai Municipality will sign tomorrow (Sunday, 29 May) the contract for the 'final design and construction stage' of Dubai Metro Project with the winning consortium.

The signing ceremony will be attended by Qassim Sultan, Director General of Dubai Municipality and Chairman of the Higher Committee of Dubai Metro, Nasser Ahmed Saeed, General Coordinator of the project, members of the project's higher committee and the technical task force, representatives of the consortiums that submitted financial and technical offers for the project, senior government officials, and representatives of local and foreign media.

The Municipality had opened the base offers for the first phase of the project in February last. The four consortia that are vying for the project include Metro One, which consists of Bombardier (Canada), Odebrecht (Brazil), Arabtec Construction LLC (UAE), and Parsons Transportation Group (USA), Salsabeel, a consortium consisting of Siemens (Germany) Saudi Bin Ladin Group (Saudi Arabia), Diwidag (Germany) and Citic Group (China), Dubai Star Consortium, which includes Alstom (France), Belinger Berger (Germany), Belfinger Berger(Germany) Taisei (Japan) Besix (Belgium) with Orascom(Egypt) and Al Habtoor (UAE), and Dubai Rapid Link, a consortium of three Japanese companies, Mitsubishi, Obayashi and Kajima and the Turkish, Yapi Merkesi.
