Starting with Kuwait and Qatar the Sharjah tourism road show attracts the GCC travel sector

Organized by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the Kuwait and Qatar were the first two stations for the fourth Sharjah tourism - focused GCC road show.

The one-day visits were highlighted by a 3 hours workshops followed by a press presentation.

Attended by a large number of travel and tourism agencies representatives, the workshop was mainly focused on ways stimulating further business growth in the GCC Tourism Market. Individual and groups discussions also focused on ways of improving the communication process within the tourism industry. The Sharjah summer holiday packages, were mainly highlighted.

Attended by senior representatives from the Kuwaiti and Qatari travel and tourism sector, Sharjah was introduced to the attendees in a video presentation showcasing the tourism sector in Sharjah and what Sharjah has to offer during summer.

In his speech to the conference, Mr. Mohamed A. Al Noman, Director of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority highlighted the main reasons for Sharjah to be promoted as a cultural heritage tourist family destination. Highlighting the main aspects about the tourism sector of Sharjah, current development and the future investments.

He said "Sharjah has plenty to offer visitors from Arabia and further field. We have everything from culture, to beaches, to sporting attractions - all in a family-friendly, culturally-sensitive environment."

Al Noman believes the showcase should be viewed as a strident move towards developing the tourism industry in Sharjah, and the fact that it is wholly government-financed means there is one clear end goal in sight.

He said: "The purpose of the road show is to build awareness of Sharjah's unique offering to tour operators around the region - a tool that worked to great effect two years ago, as today we have more chances to develop the tourism sector of Sharjah with the establishment of Air Arabia. The one - year - old national Airline, will be a major tool for promoting the tourism sector in Sharjah.

"We believe that a focused marketing drive continues to pave the way forward for a niche product like Sharjah, and I fully expect to be reporting more growth in the tourism sector of Sharjah during the summer."
