Construction growth in Middle East puts accurate information at a premium

- PRESS RELEASE
Key details of multi-million dollar construction projects in the GCC, Iran and Iraq are now available online, with MEED projects.
MEED projects was launched in 2004 in response to the ever-increasing number of short- and long-term projects springing up across all sectors in the Middle East.
The online business tracker provides priceless market information to consultants and contractors, according to general manager Ayman Razek, with subscriptions doubling in the past few months.
"There is a huge market for the larger international contractors and consultants, especially on the big schemes," said Razek. "The influx of top international contractors in Dubai has had a knock-on effect further down the construction chain, and now everyone wants to do business in the Middle East."
Such market knowledge will prove invaluable, not least to international contractors who may not have a large team based full time in Arabia.
Razek said: "It's no secret that the construction sector is booming across the region, but the correct - and current - details of the projects and investors can be harder to find.
"Our market knowledge enables us to provide these details at the click of a button, while subscribers can create a package that suits them, and only pay for the information they need,."
In 2004, Qatar's construction sector posted 16 per cent growth, on the back of increased investment in the gas sector, a rapid upsurge in tower developments in West Bay and increased government expenditure on infrastructure.
Razek continued: "While Doha continues to register rapid growth with 160 new towers planned, Dubai continues to announce new projects on a weekly basis. Meanwhile, Bahrain is also developing its infrastructure."
Project management initiatives have a far higher success rate in the Middle East than other so-called more developed parts of the world, according to Razek, who points to the dominance of international contractors as key to the ongoing development of the region's infrastructure.
He said: "Arabia is such a burgeoning region, that it will be the leader in project management initiatives within 10 years. Companies here have no time to waste, or energy to expend in internal politics, and they are not constrained by outdated operating procedures."
