As the Academic Program Manager, Al Komy is responsible for strengthening Microsoft presence in the education sector across the region and cooperating with the Governments to incorporate ICT into the K-12 education process.

Al Komy is responsible for implementing Microsoft's Partners in Learning (PiL) initiative across the region. The PiL initiative was launched globally by Microsoft in 2003 with the aim of providing government and education leaders with local resources to deliver ICT skills training and curriculum leadership to primary and secondary teachers, school leaders and students within each country. In the long run the program prepares students for the digital work place.

Microsoft has already signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Ministries of Education in Kuwait and Bahrain through the Partners in Learning initiative, and schools in these countries are already reaping the benefits of the PiL program.

Ahmed Al Komy holds a Bachelor Degree in Science majoring in Civil Engineering from Cairo University and was last serving as the General Manager of the Bahrain Institute of Technology before moving to Microsoft North Gulf. He enjoys a strong reputation in the Bahrain market and shares good relations with key Government decision makers in the Kingdom of Bahrain. With a wealth of experience in education and training, Al Komy promises to be an integral part of the Microsoft public sector team in the region.

"I am pleased to be a part of the Microsoft North Gulf team. With the support of my team and the excellent initiatives introduced by Microsoft, I look forward to working with local partners to implement key changes in the K-12 education sector throughout the region", says Al Komy.

Welcoming Al Komy in his new position, Samer Abu-Ltaif, General Manager for Microsoft North Gulf added: "At Microsoft we believe strongly in the influence of ICT in the education and training sector in the North Gulf region. ICT can be a powerful catalyst in improving the field of teaching and learning for all, and the role of the Academic Program Manager is extremely important in the growth and development of ICT in the region. Having Ahmed Al Komy in this position, we are confident about the success of our educational programs in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar for the benefit of all."
