Omanoil Road Map finalised

With the increase in tourism, the map was intended for motorists' use around the whole of the Sultanate.

Work commenced on the omanoil Road Map at the beginning of 2004 and a great amount of research went into its production. Published under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, research, design and production of the map was assisted by many different government departments and authorities.

"The omanoil Road Map provides a unique way for the public to interact with the omanoil brand. Incorporating the colours of the logo, the new map is immediately identifiable as an omanoil product and, as a national reference for travellers, reinforces omanoil's status as a provider of truly national services." Stated Hisham Al Alawi, Corporate Affairs Manager.

The map was produced in order to provide a valuable guide of the Sultanate. Roads are frequently being newly asphalted, and at the time of publishing, all new roads are included in the map such as: the road between the Wilayat of Mirbat to Hasik and new roads in the Wilayat of Sur.

User-friendliness was an important consideration in the map's creation. All of the omanoil filling stations are clearly shown and, in keeping with omanoil's promise to be 'Your Friend on the Road', the map also indicates hotels, youth hostels and hospitals. In fact, as a consideration for travellers in more isolated areas, even non-omanoil outlets are shown where the density of service stations is low. A chart at the bottom of the map gives a detailed location of each omanoil filling station across the country, as well as the facilities provided.

The map was researched, designed and produced by Anne Malin, who has been developing maps and guidebooks for the Sultanate of Oman for the past fifteen years.
