Avon-Al Hathboor opens first showroom in Dubai
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, May 28 - 2002 at 09:11
- PRESS RELEASE
Avon-Al Hathboor is opening its first Dubai showroom on Airport Road today. Avon-Al Hathboor came into being in 1983, and represents the UAE operations of Avon, the world's largest direct seller of beauty and related products.
Avon is one of the world's best known beauty names, and has been established since 1886. The company started life selling directly to women, and now has 3.5 million Avon members who operate in 140 countries around the world.
Avon's core products are beauty, with extensive ranges of fragrance, cosmetics, skin care and personal care. The new showroom will stock key ranges like Avon Colour make up, Avon Skin Care and Skin-so-Soft personal care.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the new showroom, Mr. P Menon, Senior General Manager of Al Hathboor International said, "This move represents a further step in our long relationship with Avon in the UAE. Avon is one of our key brands, and has grown substantially since we started operations with only 30 staff in 1983."
"This new showroom illustrates Avon's new strategy to bring the brand to large numbers of women, and is the second in the UAE. It will play a major role in helping us develop the Avon brand. We already have 1,500 staff in the UAE, and the new training facilities will help us to grow the business even more."
He added that the development of Avon-Al Hathboor was a key element of the company's strategy to be a market leader. "Avon products are made to the highest standards, and are priced very competitively. All of the products we sell here are manufactured in Europe, and we offer customers a 100% satisfaction guarantee."
Max Lickfold, Sales Director for Overseas Development, Avon UK, added, "The Avon-Al Hathboor business has grown steadily since its inception, and the Avon name is now very well-known here. Indeed, we have a strong presence in the region, with Saudi Arabia and Egypt being our biggest markets."
"While we are a major player in the beauty market, we continue to adhere closely to the principals on which the company was founded. A key factor in our growth has been the career development of women who progress throughout the organisation. For example, both our CEO and our COO are women."
"Additionally, we have always been a major supporter of women's health, and we have set up programmes such as the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade and the Avon Worldwide Fund for Women's Health, both of which have played a major role in increasing funding and awareness for women's health issues."
He added, " The new showroom is a credit to Al Hathboor, and one which we are proud to be associated with. We look forward to further expansion in the UAE."
Avon is the world's leading direct seller of beauty and related products with $6 billion in annual revenues. Avon has pioneered many ground-breaking skincare formulations, including AHAs (alpha hydroxy acid) for skincare. The company also markets an extensive line of fashion jewellery, apparel and gifts.
