Oracle advances commitment to Jordan's knowledge economy society initiative
- Jordan: Tuesday, June 07 - 2005 at 11:34
- PRESS RELEASE
Emphasizing its dedication to the Jordanian government's information technology strategy, Oracle today announced the opening of its first in-country office in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Jordan's IT sector has developed significantly during the last five years, with Jordanian companies adopting technology to give them a competitive edge in the wider Middle East market. Oracle's clients include the country's leading businesses and organizations, including telecommunications provider Fastlink, Jordan University of Science and Technology, King Abdullah University Hospital, Jordan National Bank, Bank of Jordan, Arab Bank, Jordan Telcom, Central Bank of Jordan, and other prestigious establishments. With more enterprises implementing OracleŽ solutions, an in-country office will further develop Jordan as a regional IT hub.
"Jordan's transition into an IT society is a tribute to the work of the government and ruling authorities who have invested heavily in promoting technology as a central pillar of the economy," said Giacoletto. "The establishment of our first facility is an endorsement of the approach that the government is taking and we will continue to support the transformation that is taking place here."
Kassem Fares, Managing Director, Oracle, Levant region commented on Oracle's significant decision by saying: "Staffed by Jordanian IT professionals, the office will support channel partners in Jordan and surrounding states with technical consultancy, implementation assistance and training courses on Oracle's portfolio of software solutions. Oracle's commitment to Jordan's IT vision also includes the establishment of the very first Oracle Academy in the Hashemite Kingdom, providing skills in database administration and Java technology to Jordanian secondary school students."
Commenting at the office-opening event, Husam Dajani, Vice President, Oracle Middle East and Africa, explained the practical benefits behind the decision to open a Jordan office. "Oracle's customers are our number one priority, and we want them to realize the full potential of our industry-leading solutions. With this investment in Amman, we will be able to provide both end-users and partners with the required support and maintenance to help ensure that no matter what the situation, they can rely on their Oracle infrastructure."
The significant investment Oracle is making in training and certifying Jordanian students on its range of software solutions, including enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management platforms, will be realized through partnerships between the vendor and Jordanian educational institutions. "With information technology at the heart of the government's economic strategy, we expect that Jordan's importance as a center for research and innovation will grow. We will deploy the latest in e-learning technology at the Oracle Academy and provide the students with practical skills that they can use to aid in the transformation that is taking place in this country," concluded Giacoletto.
