Al Fajer Group signs multi million dollar deal with top Turkish furniture maker

The agreement was signed during the 'Made in Turkey' exhibition, the first Turkish trade fair to be held in the UAE, which concluded at Dubai World Trade Centre yesterday (Monday).

The deal was struck between Gork and Al Fajer's consumer division, Al Fajer Establishment, one of the group's diverse segments, which incorporate global leaders in the construction, trading, travel and fashion industries.

Farooque Qureshi, representative of Al Fajer Group, said: 'We were interested in securing a partnership with Gork Furniture earlier this year, and now we have seen the products for ourselves, we are confident the high quality and innovative designs will lead to great success.'

After concluding the agreement at the 'Made in Turkey' exhibition, Görkem Özener, sales manager and future owner of Görk explained why his company is keen to expand in the Gulf region.

'The UAE and its neighbouring countries represent important markets both for Görk and for Turkey's wider import and export growth targets,' said Özener. 'We're proud to be associated with such a prestigious local company and are keen to show businesses here just how far Turkey's products have come.'

Mosaic Organisations, the UAE-based company responsible for 'Made in Turkey', reported one of the highest visitor figures ever achieved by a national exhibition staged by an individual country at Dubai World Trade Centre.

'The exhibition has been a real success with 10,000 visitors who traveled from many countries including Japan and China as well as representatives from all the GCC nations,' said Idil Atkin, general manager of Mosaic.

'Many exhibitors have signed lucrative deals,' added Atkin. 'We believe Turkey's construction, machinery, furniture and textile companies have made a real impression on the region's business community.'

Çukurova, Turkey's leading construction machinery manufacturer, is among the other companies which cashed in on their appearance in Dubai where its objective was to meet Afghani and Iraqi companies in need of supplies.

'We've met the right people at 'Made in Turkey' and as a result we estimate a US$2 million (dhs7.32 million) growth in this region next year,' said Mehmet Basalan, Çukurova operations manager. 'As well as supplying Afghani and Iraqi companies we have made strong contacts with the US Army contracting branch, which is based in Dubai.'

Other successes included Da Una clothing brand's appointment as a key supplier to 'Enchante' boutique in Dubai and the signing of a lucrative deal between Platform, a leading Turkish furniture manufacturer, and UAE company Al Rahmari Industries.

Made in Turkey was authorised and licensed by Turkey's Undersecretary of Foreign Trade, Tuncer Kayalar.
