Action-packed Australia features at the Holiday lounge this month

Chris Anns, Tourism Australia's Business Development Manager for Middle East said: "Australia is growing in popularity as a holiday destination for gulf travellers. In 2004, Australia welcomed about 46,000 visitors from the gulf - an increase of 25 percent over the previous year. We expect this growth trend to continue, given the Australian government's recent move to facilitate online visa applications for the nationals of some gulf countries. "

Since May this year, nationals of UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait can apply online for short-stay visas for a small fee, all from the comfort of their home or travel agent's office, eliminating the need to travel and wait in queues at consulates and embassies.

Mr. Anns added: "Through the Destination of the Month promotion at The Holiday Lounge with Dnata, we want to showcase some of Australia's attractions and encourage more people to come experience Australia for themselves with the special travel offers."
