Mattar Al Tayer receives Dutch consul

Deputy Director General of Dubai Municipality, Eng. Mattar Al Tayer, received today at his office Mr. Bart Twaalfhoven, the Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dubai.

During the meeting, they reviewed areas of cooperation and ways of strengthening the friendly ties between Dubai and the Netherlands.

Mr. Al Tayer welcomed the consul and discussed with the Dutch diplomat the existing relations and cooperation between Dubai Municipality and the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He also explored possibilities of further expanding these.

Mr. Twaalfhoven said that he is quite impressed with the fast-paced development that is being witnessed in Dubai. "The Light Rail project that is being taken up by Dubai is a wise decision."

He also praised other city projects including new roads, tunnels and bridges.

Mr. Al Tayer said, "Dubai is providing as much infrastructure facilities as it can to attract more trade and tourists. The Municipality is currently working on a long term plan for easing traffic and enhancing the road network."

Al Tayer added that the transport system in Dubai will be improved by increasing the number of buses and enhancing the level of service. He said that other mode of transport will also be enhanced to suit the growing need for more transport facilities.

Mr. Joseph Mouawad Ibrahim, the Commercial Officer in the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dubai also accompanied the consul general during his visit to Mr. Al Tayer's office.
