DPA's participation in TOC comes in the wake of the remarkable success it has achieved in recent years following its acquisition of the most innovative container handling equipment available in the worldwide market. The new equipment has helped DPA to significantly expedite the transportation and distribution of goods to locations all over Dubai.
The DPA delegation for the conference includes Arif Obaid Al Dehail, Director of Container Terminals; Saeed Suhail Al Dhafri, Senior Manager, Container Terminals; Adnan Al Abbar, Director of Port Planning and Info Systems; and Masoud Abdulla Al Ali, Plant Manager.
Commenting on DPA's participation in TOC, Arif Obaid Al Dehail said, 'Forums like Terminal Operation Conference provide an excellent opportunity for knowledge transfer among professionals in the field of sea port operations and logistics. Dubai Port Authority is looking forward to presenting the key lessons we have learned in managing some of the busiest seaports in the world at the conference. TOC will help us strengthen our relationships with foreign partners and further our drive to achieve our strategic goals.'
'DPA has devised a progressive growth plan to provide the highest levels of service to our clients and partners in order to drive the development of Dubai into the world's leading logistics hub,' he added.
The delegation will highlight at the conference the significant growth DPA has achieved in container handling volume as well as our successful strategy to effectively meet customer requirements. They will also seek to highlight the host of world-class container handling equipment acquired by DPA, especially the state-of-the-art mega gantry cranes, which are the first of its kind in the world.
DPA achieved 26 per cent growth in containers handled during the first quarter of 2005 and presently ranks 10 in the world in container handling volume. The newly-acquired best-of-the-breed equipment has been a key factor behind this remarkable growth, allowing DPA to considerably enlarge the scale of its container handling activities.
TOC is the longest running event of its kind in the world. The conference provides professionals and industry players to meet and discuss key industry and technology trends, so as to improve the quality of their business relationships and performance. The event brings together executives from the port, terminal and shipping industries, as well as governmental bodies, to discuss the evolution of global maritime trade and issues of quality improvement and performance of port and hinterland services.
