  • PRESS RELEASE

The Emirates Group has honoured the successful graduates of its Corporate Consortium MBA, run by the UK-based University of Bradford's School of Management.

A total of 32 professionals, including 27 Emirates staff members, were part of the fourth cohort to complete the two-and-a-half-year course and graduate, five with distinction and 13 with merit.

The graduation ceremony at the Emirates Aviation College was attended by the graduates' family members and friends, plus Emirates' senior management and faculty members of the University of Bradford.

In his keynote speech, Dermot Mannion, Emirates' President Group Support Services, said: "On behalf of Emirates, I would like to congratulate all the graduates on the successful completion of the MBA course, and to acknowledge the graduates from other companies in the consortium.

"Emirates and the University of Bradford have developed a strong relationship since establishing this MBA programme, both sharing similar corporate objectives in the pursuit of excellence, diversity and local responsiveness. I am confident this relationship will continue to strengthen, ensuring personnel of both Emirates and our consortium partners will succeed in their own pursuit of excellence."

Mr Mannion added: "I would also like to thank the families of the graduates who have made numerous sacrifices and encouraged their loved ones to push through with their studies to help them get to this day."

The Corporate Consortium MBA was launched as part of Emirates' HR development initiative for management to help them meet future challenges.

Conferring the degrees, Professor Chris Taylor, Vice-Chancellor & Principal of the University of Bradford, said: "I am delighted to be here today in the world-class facilities of the Emirates Aviation College. This degree ceremony recognises an important stage in the life of the graduates, one of the milestones on our journey, which merits a pause, reflection, thanks and celebration.

"I offer my warmest congratulations and encourage you to move forward confidently to the next phase of your life and to give of your best to society tomorrow."

In addition to Emirates, companies sponsoring their personnel in the Corporate Consortium MBA include ABN AMRO Bank, Dubai Technology, Electronic Commerce and Media Free Zone (TECOM), Emirates Bank International, Emirates Flight Catering, ENOC/EPPCO, ITS (Kuwait), MTC (Kuwait), National Bank of Dubai and Siemens AG. While a number of personnel graduated today, others will graduate with later cohorts.

Hafith Al Ameir, Emirates' Education Planning Manager, said: "The decision by senior management for Emirates to be the main sponsor of the Corporate Consortium MBA has been confirmed by the success of the programme, coupled with Bradford's reputation as one of the world's best business schools."

About the Corporate Consortium MBA
The part-time course, held at the Emirates Aviation College over a two-and-a-half-year period, consists of 13 taught modules, 12 of them assessed, and a management project which is a substantial piece of individual research.

With the fourth cohort graduating, the alumni now totals 106 graduates. The fifth and sixth cohorts are currently taking the course, and students are being recruited for the seventh cohort, due to start this October.

About the University of Bradford
The University of Bradford received its Royal Charter in 1966 but can trace its early roots back to 1832, with the formation of the Mechanics Institute. The School of Management is widely recognised as one of Europe's leading full-service business schools, holding the EQUIS accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development as an indicator of teaching quality, as well as having AMBA accreditation of its full portfolio of MBA programmes.

The Executive MBA programmes run both by the School of Management directly and by its associate institute NIMBAS were again last year placed in the UK's Financial Times' top 75 programmes in the world and in the top twenty in Europe. In its rankings of the world's 100 Best Business Schools, Bradford University's Business School ranked fourth in terms of 'value for money'.
