- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, June 16 - 2005 at 10:22
- PRESS RELEASE
It sounds so simple: build cars that people want to drive, listen to what your customers want in a car.
GM led all major automakers in the Total Quality Study, with six vehicles earning top honors in their respective categories. The survey, which covers the emotional side of buying, owning and driving a new car, polled more than 40,000 buyers who purchased their 2005 vehicles in October and November of 2004.
"We are very pleased that these same vehicles that are receiving high accolades in the US are so popular in the region," said Terry Johnsson, managing director of GM Middle East. "Vehicles such as the Cadillac Escalade, HUMMER H2 and GMC Sierra reflect the strength of the GM SUV offer; a unique combination of luxury, performance and intelligent technology that has proven hard to beat."
Models that are popular among Middle East customers, such as luxury SUVs Cadillac Escalade and Hummer H2, the iconic Chevrolet Corvette, and the heavy-duty GMC Sierra ruled their respective segments. Other winners include the Pontiac G6 of Oprah Winfrey fame, which beat out its medium-car rivals, including the best-selling Toyota Camry, and the Buick Rainier medium SUV.
